Smith, 23, of Lawrence was shot in the head as he sat at the bar early Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead at scene. Onofri said Powell fled the scene after the shooting. He is being held at the Mercer County Corrections Center.

Onofri did not disclose a motive for the shooting.

"I feel so relieved...justice is served! Long live Devin," Briana Anderson, the mother of Smith's daughter, posted on her Facebook page after the arrest was announced.

Powell also faces charges for possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
