An arrest has made in a fatal Lakewood hit and run that left 12 year old Edward Juarez dead.

Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford says Jesus Arellano, age 40, was charged Friday with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on Friday, December 16 in Lakewood Township on Clover Street near Cedar Bridge Avenue in Shenandoah Park.

Prosecutor Ford says, “Law enforcement officers from the Lakewood Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office developed information which led them to a vehicle which was covered by a tarpaulin behind a residence on Lakeview Place in Lakewood. Mr. Allerano was residing at that location. That vehicle has been secured and is being processed by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigation Unit.”

Leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision is a second degree crime, which could result in 10 years incarceration in New Jersey state prison. Mr. Arellano’s bail was set at $150,000 no 10% option. Mr. Arellano is also being held on a no bail detainer from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
