The suspect demanded prescription narcotics, then fled on foot when police arrived at the scene, according to a press release. Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni revealed that police responded to a pair of 911 calls around 6:43 p.m. and during the foot pursuit, the gunman shot at an Eatontown police officer who returned fire, then escaped in a vehicle that was parked in the Michaels Plaza.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on Route 36 west. He had a scarf covering his face and was wearing a tan-colored hooded jacket with black gloves and jeans.
