I openly admit that I'm a creature of habit. Especially Monday through Friday. I tend to follow pretty similar patterns from day to day, and doing one thing differently can mess it all up.

This week so far is a pretty good example.

I was off yesterday, so today was my "Monday", and I had to fit in today what I normally do on Mondays.

Not a big deal really, and nothing that I can't handle. But there was one thing that I did out of the normal order that I do it in and it completely messed me up.

I realized an hour later that I had forgotten to complete the one thing because I'd done something different in between.

I suppose there are two ways that you can look at it - being a creature of habit can be a good thing when your duties tend to be similar day to day and it is a good way to make sure that things get done. But, on the other hand, you have to be flexible and be prepared for things to come along that could shake up that pattern.

It all got done, but not without a good bit of recovery work.
