The Jersey Shore Partnership Foundation is finalizing its plans for its lavish 17th Annual Summer Celebration taking place this Monday at Sandy Hook's historic Fort Hancock.

Jersey Shore Partnership's Margot Walsh describes the event as a kickoff to the summer season and a celebration of the restoration of most of New Jersey's beaches. This year's theme is 'New Beginnings: Recover, Restore, Remember' and Walsh says it's kind of a regeneration after Superstorm Sandy where people are over the low point and feeling a tremendous sense of hope and energy.  "So yes it's a new point and a new opportunity to rebuild and a new footprint smarter and better and better protective of our coastline, our properties and our beaches and our environment."

She says two industries important to the state will be collaborating. "The event brings together restaurants from all along the Jersey shore coast and the Jersey coast fisheries supply the restaurants with seafood that they prepare to serve the guest."

They'll also be honoring the restaurant association this year for their outreach all along the coast during Sandy.

The event takes on special significance for the foundation following the Superstorm Sandy according to Walsh. She says it reaffirmed the importance of their beach protection and restoration advocacy efforts. "It's a double for us, one, that the beaches are looking good and two, it's an acknowledgment that all these years has real meaning and realism."

They'll also be recognizing the efforts of people and organizations that are helping New Jersey's restoration efforts .. like Governor Christie's wife Mary Pat Christie and all the Jersey Shore Mayors.
