Animal Emergency Responders in NJ to Receive Safety Training

State and county animal response teams will be even better prepared to help animals during house, barn and forest fires.  The New Jersey Animal Emergency Working Group will hold its 15th Annual Symposium tomorrow at the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center in Westampton.

The daylong seminar will feature a number of speakers who will focus on prevention along with response for these types of emergencies.  There will also be a presentation on coordination between agencies.

Each year, about 40,000 pets die each year nationwide as a result of fire according to Live-Safe.org and the National Volunteer Fire Council reports about half a million pets are impacted by house fires annually.  From 2006-2010, an estimated 830 structure fires in barns were reported to U.S. fire departments per year.

The Symposium will be held from 9:15 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center, 53 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ.
