There is a perfect opportunity right now for us to help families who are protecting us by serving in the military.

You may remember that last summer a number of Ocean County schools were closed due to positive mold tests.

One of those schools was Lakehurst Elementary School, which serves the children of service members who are based at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station branch of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

In the end, Lakehurst Elementary lost all of the books in their library.

This is where a great organization, Operation Paperback, stepped in.

In its 20 year history, Operation Paperback has shipped millions of books to service members at home and overseas.

Here's what the Lakehurst Elementary library looks like right now:

If you'd like to help out by donating children's books, Operation Paperback's Chrissy Honeywell is coordinating the organization's efforts. She can be reached by email at chrissy@operationpaperback.org.
