I've talked before about my love of finding deals and saving money. And hey, in this economy, who wouldn't like to save a buck? That being said, I have to tell you about my incredible weekend of savings.

I recently downloaded an app for my iPhone called Shopkick. It's pretty slick, you get "kicks" for going into certain stores. You can also use your smartphone's camera to scan the barcode on an item, and get "kicks" for doing that as well. Once you get a certain number of points, you can exchange them for gift cards to different places.

Of course it's a win-win. On one hand, you're not necessarily having to spend any money up front and eventually ending up with a gift card. On the other hand, it's getting you into stores and getting you to take a look at a product that you may or may not have picked up in the first place.

So here's what my weekend haul looked like:

  • Two hoodies from Old Navy
  • Two T-shirts from Old Navy
  • Two sweaters from Old Navy
  • Two polo shirts from Old Navy
  • A set of king size flannel sheets from Target

The whole haul ended up costing me $23 out of pocket. Old Navy was having a sale of 50% off already reduced clearance items and the sheets at Target were on clearance. I redeemed a $5 Old Navy gift card through Shopkick, as well as a $10 Target gift card the same way. Regular price, all that would have cost roughly $175.

I've said it before, I'll say it again...I love a good sale!
