Manchester police continue investigating a Wednesday afternoon crash involving an ambulance and an SUV on Route 37 right outside the municipal building and TD Bank around 3:40 pm.

Investigators say the ambulance was heading south along Colonial Drive with its lights flashing when it collided with a 2016 Hyundai Tucson against the red traffic signal.

At the time of the accident the ambulance was transporting a patient down to Community Medical Center.

The 57-year old on-board patient was not injured and was taken to the hospital by another ambulance.

20-year old Chase Swartz of Seaside Park who was driving the ambulance and his passenger, Caroline Bruckel, 52, of Manchester Township were also uninjured.

The Hyundai Tucson driver, 77-year old Lorraine Flatley of Whiting and her passenger 82-year old Annette Black of Whiting, sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention.

The crash is currently under investigation by Patrolman Michael O'Hara and Ptl. Ian Bole of the department's Traffic Safety Unit and motor vehicle charges are pending.
