Admitted Child Molester Gets 13 Years
A Margate 38-year-old who admitted exposing and fondling himself in front of a 10-year-old girl in 2010 is sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Paul Campo pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault and luring the same day that his trial was scheduled to begin last September 10, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.
Under terms of his plea bargain, Campo's required to serve 85 percent of his seven years for the sexual assault charge in compliance with the No Early Release Act. That equates to five years, 11 months.
Campo confessed to luring the preteen from Linwood's bicycle path, where she was pedaling to school, to a side yard of a nearby home on April 30, 2010, then engaging in self-gratification in front of her.
Prosecutors alleged that Campo tried to grab the youngster's skirt as she fled, pulling it down. The victim raced to school and notified teachers who called Linwood police. They apprehended Campo later the same day in Hamilton Township.
