Voters in New Jersey's third Congressional district won't be able to say they were uninformed when Election Day rolls around. Democratic challenger Shelley Adler today challenged incumbent Republican Jon Runyan to a series of debates - and Runyan's accepted.

Mrs. Adler seeks at least six face-offs, the same number that her late husband John Adler undertook with Runyan when he was the incumbent.

In a letter to the Congressman, she invited him to "join me in the trenches just like in your football playing days" for substantive dialogue. She characterizes it as "representative democracy at its best, where you will defend your record in Congress and you will have the opportunity to challenge me on my vision for our country."

Runyan's chief campaign organizer told WOBM News that he's ready to go head-to-head. Places, dates and times are now in the formative stage.
