A medical examiner concluded that a stab to the neck caused Abbie's death, according to a brief statement from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, which provided no other details.

Abbiegail's body was found wrapped in a blanket on a rear roof of the apartment building on Hancock Avenue, where she lived with her mother, 12 hours after being reported missing last Thursday. Andreas Erazo, 18, who lived upstairs from Abbie, was charged with first-degree murder for her death.

The girl's funeral is scheduled for Monday at St. Ann's Church in Keansburg, with a viewing on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals.

Abbie's father, Kenroy Smith, posted a thank you on his Facebook page on Tuesday morning. He also thanked law enforcement for Erazo's arrest and wrote that he hoped to ask him why he killed Smith.

Abbie loved dancing, modeling, dressing up, and making people laugh, according to her obituary. She was born in Jamaica and moved with her family from Highlands to Keansburg two years ago.
