Just in case we were getting lulled into a sense of comfort, Mother Nature gave us a reminder yesterday and this morning that it is, in fact, winter.

For many, Sunday's snow was nice, as it lightly covered the trees and grass.

But this morning was a different story.

The roads were fine, there wasn't any shoveling to be done, but many woke to cars encased in ice.

As I was walking out to my car this morning I thought, "that's not so bad". Then I started brushing it off.

I had an idea that it wasn't going to be a simple matter of just dusting it off when I tried to open my door and it was quite firmly frozen shut.

Thankfully, the passenger's side was in the sun, so I was able to get in on that side. But if you're also someone who drives a stick shift, you know the contortions that are part of having to climb over the center console to actually turn the car on to warm it up.

I did finally manage to get the car running and clean (and please remember, it is the law in New Jersey that you must clear all of the snow off of your car), but it did serve as a reminder not to get too comfortable, we could still see winter rear its ugly head!
