A Dog’s Life….Happy Birthday Maximus Cloud I [VIDEO]

Our first Dog "Max" turns 11 today "Happy Birthday Max"!

It was 11 years ago today we were at a roller skate birthday party in Manahawkin .... My Son Zach was 8 and my Daughter Erin was 4 and they were itching to get a Puppy! We already had our first pet Sydney, a cat we rescued from a shelter shortly after my Wife April and I were married.

We heard of Bichon puppies that were up for adoption locally and well after a lengthy back an forth with the kids , we left the birthday party and on impulse we stopped on the way home. Thats where we found this little white fur ball , and as you guess when an 8 year old and a 4 year old plead their case....well "Max" came home with us that night .... and has been with us ever since.

Max got his name because he looked like a little puffy cloud...hence his full name "Maximus Cloud I" I'm sure meteorologist Alan Kasper would be proud of the name  ( Maximus (Hellenised as Maximos) is the Latin term for "greatest" or "largest" )

Max has been with us through alot of milestones....grade school, middle school and high school graduations, a 20th wedding anniversary, baby births and even some funerals and through it all he has been a constant positive in our lives. Don't get me wrong Max has one draw back ... his love of talking ! He is a well accomplished "barker"  and loves to sound off anytime someone visits or knocks on the door. He has the nickname "the talking dog" !

Max is a Bichon Frise.....The Bichon Frise descended from the Barbet or Water Spaniel and the Standard Poodle. The word bichon comes from Middle French bichon ("small long-haired dog")

Anyone who has owned a Bichon knows of the Bichon Buzz! When these dogs are young they burst into fits of energy and will run from room to room bouncing off furniture , running, barking, spinning and just flying about the house....Max was no different , the kids would often yell from the other room "bichon buzz, bichon buzz" which meant in laymens terms...Max was flipping out lol

Now after 11 year Max still has a dull "buzz" but always loves a good toy and has a basket full at home and along with his brother "Dexter Riley" ( Malti-Poo ) still brings delight to all that enter our home and will never turn down a good walk outside !
