No game today for the Toms River Little League All-Stars who are two wins away from heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series.

The 12 boys and 1 girl who make up the team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning Wednesday to edge Newark, Delaware 11-10 and finish a perfect 4-0 in the “pool play” portion of the tournament. That earned them the top seed in the semifinal round where they will face Delaware again Friday afternoon at 3pm in a game that will be televised on ESPN.

The state champions from Pennsylvania and New York will meet in the other semifinal with the winners to collide Sunday for the right to represent the Mid Atlantic Region in Williamsport.

After winning in dramatic fashion yesterday the team got to tour Bristol, Connecticut’s most well-known attraction: the studios and offices of ESPN.

I know it got terrible reviews and has been a box office bust but count my wife and me among those who enjoyed “And So It Goes” starring Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton. I could have done without Keaton’s singing, it’s very predictable and far from great but it’s cute. I wouldn’t rush out to see it; it won’t be around for long and should be on TV fairly quickly.
