A Curious Condiment Caper in The Garden State
Counterfeiting is nothing new. If you spend any time in New York City, you’ve certainly seen your fair share of knockoff watches, purses, sunglasses, and electronics. But a phony ketchup running operation in our own backyard?
NJ.com is reporting that an apparent hoax Heinz operation was discovered in a Dover, NJ warehouse when pallets of the suspect sauce blew their tops and made a runny red mess reminiscent of bad Halloween effects all over the place.
It actually could be a serious issue since, at this point, investigators aren’t sure what the criminals may have been adulterating the tomato topping with, if anything, to hawk it at a big profit. Obviously, the investigation is ongoing.
