A man is shot dead in a Lawrenceville Applebee's, the suspect escapes, and the search is broadening. Police said it occurred at about 12:30 AM inside the restaurant in the Quakerbridge Mall on Route 1. They're looking for a Chevy Suburban.

A driver is recuperating from a chain crash in Toms River that turned his car into scrap metal this morning. Police said that Michael Carlo was wedged in his Toyota after it was slammed from behind, and launched into a third car, at a red light on Route 37 in the middle of rush hour. Potential charges for the driver who triggered the crash will depend on investigation results.

The push begins at food banks throughout New Jersey for donations to supply nourishing Thanksgiving meals for needy families. In Neptune, Fulfill Executive Director Carlos Rodriguez says that his staff hopes to collect enough to distribute a million meals in November. Community Foodbank of New Jersey hopes to distribute 50,000 turkeys - double last year's amount.
