Ocean County's biggest tourism booster, Freeholder Director Joe Vicari, visits Shawn and Sue to kick off the shore's biggest time of year to attract visitors and generate revenue. He exudes confidence in the County's ability to entertain, indoors and outdoors, equal to anything to be found in cities and more costly resorts.

"We have a planetarium at Ocean County College. We have an aquarium at Jenkinson's. We have the most coastline in the state of New Jersey, 44 miles," Vicari bragged.

The shore's newest bear sighting is in Middletown. The report reached police Thursday night from the area of Nut Swamp Road - apparently with no human encounters and no damage. The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife keeps a list of bear safety tips on its web page.
