They cite financial benefits for the state's casino and horse-breeding and -racing sectors, and job creation. New Jersey officials declined the opportunity offered by Congress to legalize it in 1992.
A former Buena Regional High School teacher will be sentenced in September for carrying on with a 17-year-old coed. William Jacobs pleaded guilty Monday to allegations that the pair had sexual relations for several months in late 2016 and early 2017. Prosecutors also contended that Jacobs urged the teen not to cooperate with investigators.
