A judge has ruled Andreas Erazo, the Monmouth County man charged with brutally killing 11-year old Abbie Smith with a knife a few weeks ago is not eligible to post bail and will remain behind bars until his murder trial is completed.
Former Seaside Heights special police officer Kevin Meier will spend the next five years in state prison following sentencing on Wednesday for distributing child porn.
The 24-year old must also register as a sex offender and will be on probation for life.
He was fired in 2015 following his arrest.
President Donald Trump has moved to ban trans-gender people in the military citing the "tremendous medical costs and disruption" of the policy.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the president's decision was made after consulting with his national security team.
"Obviously it's a very difficult decision, it's not a simple one but the president feels it's the best one for the military," said Sanders.
A pentagon spokesman says they're working with the white house to address the new policy from the president.
No timeline has been announced for when the policy takes effect.
