A body found in a burning car in Plumsted is being examined to determine its identity, and cause and manner of death. Joint Base firefighters discovered the car and the corpse while fighting a brush blaze near the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area.

Monday's crash of a private plane at Lakewood Municipal Airport undergoes review by the Federal Aviation Administration. Investigators have not disclosed the identities of the pilot and passenger, or their point of origin, but said that both avoided serious injury.

After a winter of repairs, the Mathis Bridge between Toms River and Seaside Heights is due for reopening May 10, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Lane restrictions ease as the Mathis and Tunney Bridges resume normal traffic patterns - then one more season of work after Labor Day before the Mathis project is done in 2018.
