Five men including four from New Jersey have pleaded guilty for their roles in a dog fighting ring that hosted fights involving about 100 dogs in New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois and New Mexico.

Frank Nicols of Millville and an Illinois man were the latest to plead guilty joining Anthony Gaines and Lydell Harris of Vineland, and Mario Atkinson of Asbury Park.

Next Monday afternoon, the U.S. will see its first total solar eclipse in the last 99 years.

New Jersey will not be in the direct path of the astronomical event, according to Rutgers astronomer Carlton Pryor.

“New Jersey is not in the path of totality. The moon will not completely cover the sun, which is when things become very dramatic. The sky goes somewhat dark, and cools off a bit.”

He says the eclipse starts at 1:20pm and will reach its greatest extent at 2:45. It will be all over by 4pm.

With the help of a group of chefs who've been coming there since 2015, the Atlantic City Rescue Mission is releasing a heart-healthy cookbook.
