On Wednesday, November 11 at 12:00 noon, a Salute to Veterans will be held outside at the Ocean County College Veterans Memorial on the Main Campus Mall, College Drive, Toms River. A reception will immediately follow in the College’s Library Tower Room. (Note: In the event of rain, all activities will remain at the Memorial.) The program will feature guest speaker Capt. Christopher Bergen, USN, Deputy Commander, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and Commanding Officer, Naval Support Activity Lakehurst; color guard from the United States Marine Corps League, Attachment 796, Toms River; Ocean County College Concert Band; rifle squad salute by the American Legion Post 129, Toms River; and “Taps” will be played by bugler Frank Richetti, United States Marine Corps League. On Wednesday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m., a Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held at OCC’s Southern Education Center (SEC), 195 Cedar Bridge Road, Manahawkin. The program will feature keynote speaker Lance Corporal Audrey Kobliska, USMC, VA Peer Support Specialist; vocalist Elizabeth Weidenhof, OCC Class of 2015; and the Southern Regional High School R.O.T.C. On Wednesday, November 11th a crowd of 800+ including veterans and their families from across NJ will attend the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Holmdel. Special Guests include Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney, and Keynote Speaker Chris McGowan, faculty member at the United States Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies.
