9/11 Memorial Dedication Set

This weekend's Toms River Food Fest will include a somber moment as the Township officially dedicates its 9/11 Memorial.

The monument will be located in the Town Hall courtyard under the gazebo, and Mayor Tom Kelaher says it should be an impressive display.

"It's going to consist of some granite monuments that would resemble the World Trade Centers that were destroyed," Kelaher said.  "And at the base of it, we'll have on display a beam from the wreckage of the World Trade Center that was presented to us by representatives of the Port Authority about a year ago."

Kelaher says a $10,000 donation from the local Kiwanis Club made the completion of the monument possible.  The ceremony is set for 2:00pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
