The man charged with the vehicular murder of Ocean Gate Police Officer Jason Marles is sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison.

On Wednesday, Erick Uzcategui, 34, of Manchester was sentenced to eight years,of which he is required to serve 85% percent of the term before becoming eligible for parole.

Uzcategui was charged in the death of Officer Marles, whom he struck on the Garden State Parkway in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day 2010, just after Marles got off duty and was returning home.

Uzcategui has been out on $250,000 bail since December 2010.
