The unofficial start to summer kicks off this weekend and Jersey Shore residents plan on spending the Memorial Day holiday doing different things. Some plan on avoiding the crowds by staying home and enjoying time with family and friends, others are hosting or attending BBQ's and graduation parties. Others will be hitting the green and golfing over the extended weekend.

While everyone is having fun, Kim Gray of Toms River will be hostessing at The Berkeley Seafood Restaurant and working at the Bank of America. "I'm working all weekend, " Gray said with a sigh. As far as squeezing in a little sun time, she added "Hopefully."

Joyce Kelly from South Toms River will be hanging at home, "Actually I stay home because I don't want to be with all the traffic here." She said she'll probably have a BBQ and on Monday morning will be watching her daughter march in the Memorial Day Parade in Toms River.

Jack Murphy from Toms River also plans on spending the holiday weekend at home, "I'll probably sit by the pool at the condo, enjoy the weekend, and have a couple of adult beverages of course."

John Walter from Ortley Beach said he's all about the hecticness of summer and doesn't mind the crowds, "I love the beach."

Janet Adesso from Pine Beach loves the shore too and doesn't mind the crowds either, "It's part of the aura of the shore."

However you're celebrating the traditional start to summer, don't forget to pause to remember the fallen service men and women this Memorial Day, who made our freedom possible.
